NEW DELHI: Kerala’s Pinarayi Vijayan and West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee will return to power in the coming assembly polls, a Battle For States survey done by IANS-C-Voter opinion poll group has concluded. The survey found DMK will wrest power in Tamil Nadu. In Assam, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonawal will lead the BJP to victory again, the survey felt. In Puducherry, the AIADMK may win the election.
As per the survey, Pinarayi will lead the ruling LDF back to power with 85 seats in the 140-member state assembly. The present tally for the LDF in the assembly is 91 seats. The polls to Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry will be held in April-May and the schedule is expected to be announced by the Election Commission shortly.
In the 234-seat Tamil Nadu house, the DMK-Congress alliance is projected to win big with a two-thirds majority, getting 162 seats against the 64 seats in 2016. The AIADMK of chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami can get 64 seats against its 2016 tally of 132, the survey felt.
