NEW DELHI: Tension is building at the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh region and beyond, as China is making a serious bid to recapture the territories it occupied along the border region, which India re-took through military action a few days ago.
After Indian soldiers foiled an attack by Chinese PLA in Mukhri area of Chushul, on September 7, China deployed three battalions of its forces in strategically important areas along the LAC, and the troop build=up on the Chinese side was progressing on Wednesday. Notably, Indian Army had taken possession of Rechin La and Rezang La on August 29 night after driving away PLA soldiers from there. China wants to recapture this, according to sources in the known of military movements along the LAC.
It is said these seized peaks are strategically important for India. While Indian external affairs minister S Jaishankar is reiterating the need for high-level talks to resolve the issue, India is mindful of the long-term strategy it must put in place and find ways to checkmate the territorial ambitions and usurpation plans of President Xi Jinping.
