NEWS APPS BAN
NEW DELHI: India on Monday announced a ban on 59 apps with Chinese links, in the context of the present stand-off between the two powerful Asian giants. These included, among others, the popular TikTok, CamScanner, Shareit, WeChat and UC Browser.
Indian and Chinese soldiers had clashed in Galwan Valley in Ladakh along the norther border on June 15 in which 20 Indian soldiers had died. Also, India feels the apps have been violating the terms of usage, compromising users privacy, and are being used by China as spyware or malware.
The Prime Minister, in his Mann Ki Baat radio address on Sunday exhorted the nation to boycott of Chinese goods and use Indian manufactured goods. IHN-NN
