COVID INDIA … Infection figures cross 4,65,000; deaths at 14476 so far; Mumbai, Delhi worst-hit

NEW DELHI: India’s Covid infection tally rose to 4,56,183 by Wednesday, with about 16,000 persons confirmed Covid positive on Tuesday alone. The death toll rose to 14,476, the Union Health Ministry said in a statement. The recovery rate stood at 56.70 in India. As of now, India is the fourth worst affected nation – after US, Brazil and Russia, in that order.

The ministry said Maharashtra reported 1,39,010 cases so far, the largest, while Delhi reported the second largest number at 66,602 and Tamil Nadu third at 64,403 cases. The total C-deaths in Maharashtra were of 6,531, while Delhi reported 2,301 deaths and Gujarat 1,710 deaths.


The total number of coronavirus cases across countries crossed 92.39 lakh and the death toll rose to 4.76 lakh.
