NEWS COVID INDIA FLIGHTS
NEW DELHI: International flights could resume operations from mid-June, or even by end of May, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Saturday. He was participating in an online discussion with the people about possibilities of re-activating the aviation sector which took the major brunt during the past two months of nation-wide and global lockdown.
The minister stated this on condition that the Covid-19 scenario progressed in a “predictable manner.” A good percentage of the flights might be in a position to resume operations by mid June,” he said.
Domestic flights will resume operations on a limited scale from May 25, as per an announcement by the government a day ago.
Meanwhile, the Covid scenario in the country remained serious. In capital Delhi alone, the Covid tally crossed 12,000 mark by this weekend. As many as 650 infections were reported on Saturday itself. In Mumbai, the highest daily tally was registered on Friday, with 1751 cases added, there were 27 deaths that day alone which took the total death toll in Mumbai to over 900.
