KOLKATA: The upper eastern coast is in the shadow of a cyclonic storm threat. A cyclonic storm lay in the Bay of Bengal, some 1,220 nautical miles in south-southwest of Digha in West Bengal on Saturday morning, and heavy rains are likely in the coastal regions of West Bengal, from May 19, the Met office has said. It is also likely it would change course in the interim.
As per present indications, the storm is likely to intensify into a severe storm by Sunday evening, and move in north-north west direction till May 17.
It might likely take a re-curve towards north-northeast and towards West Bengal coast between May 18 and 20, as per present reading.
Heavy rain is predicted in North and South Parganas, Kolkata, East and West Midnapore, Howrah and Hooghly, on May 19 and 20, it said. IHN-NN
