NEW DELHI: Union minister V Muraleedharan has opted to quarantine himself at his official residence after his return here from Kerala – where he attended an event at the Sree Chitra Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. The total number of coronavirus positive cases in India rose to 126 as per latest reports. Three deaths have been reported, of which the last was of a 64-year-old man who returned recently from Dubai.
The minister of state for external affairs made the announcement on Tuesday evening on his social media page. He said he had visited the institute on Saturday. The next day, a doctor there tested positive for Covid-19. “Since utmost alert and precaution are needed in checking the spread of the virus, I opted myself to go in quarantine mode,” Muraleedharan said.
The minister said he did a Covid test and the result was negative. Yet, by way of abundant precaution, he would remain at his home and will do his work from there for now, he added. IHN-NN
