NEWS KAMAL NATH MP CONGRESS
BHOPAL: The Kamal Nath-led Congress government is faced with serious dissidence on Monday, as senior party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia is keeping an unspecified number of legislators in a secret camp with a view to toppling the present government or changing the CM. Scindia was in the run for CM post after the last assembly polls, but the lot fell on Kamal Nath.
The Congress on its own does not have majority in the assembly. Nath is running government with support from two BSP, one SP and four Independent MLAs in a house of 230 where the Congress strength is 114 and BJP has 119 MLAs. A fluid situation persists in Bhopal as several Congress MLAs have been shifted to “safe” locations in Bengaluru, while Kamal Nath and Scindia are fighting things out.
Kamal Nath took power as CM in December 2018. The assembly begins its summer session on March 16, and the BJP is planning to come up with a no-trust motion against the Nath government. –IHN-NN
