A get-together of the families from Thiruvananthapuram district is the highlight of the programme, besides the official declaration of crossing the target. The funds for this were shared by the state government and the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aawas Yojana.
Kerala claims to have achieved the distinction of being the state that has completed work of the largest number of homes in the minimum time-frame, signifying the importance that chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accorded to this governmental initiative.
Similar get-together of beneficiary families will be held at all district headquarters from 3pm today, in a massive celebration of the government’s achievement in helping the state’s homeless live a comfortable life. The project will continue building houses until all the homeless in the poor category got their homes. –IHN-NN
