NEWS SONIA HOSPITAL
NEW DELHI: Congress interim president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here on Sunday for a detailed check-up after she complained of stomach pain as also breathing problems. She is also having fever. The UPA chief had not attended Parliament on the Budget presentation day on Saturday, and this had raised eyebrows.
Sonia Gandhi, 73, was admitted to the hospital at around 7pm. Her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi stood by her at the hospital, reports said.
The Congress leader has been having serious health problems, for which she used to frequent some hospitals in the US and elsewhere in the recent past. Security has been tightened at the Gangaram Hospital as Congressmen started crowding around the hospital immediately after the news spread.
A medical bulletin is expected to be issued from the hospital, but doctors remained tight-lipped. She had undergone treatment at the hospital in the past too.–IHN-NN
