NEWS SURVEY PM CMs
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds 63 per cent mass support in a just-released popularity rating, which also put Biju Janata Dal chief minister of Odisha as the most-popular chief minister in the country. If Lok Sabha polls are held today, the BJP-NDA will sweep it in a more pronounced manner than in the 2019 polls, the survey done by IANS-C-Voter has found. It said the BJP-NDA would win 330 seats and the Congress-UPA 130 seats out of the total 543 seats in the Lok Sabha.
The popularity of BJP chief ministers is below 40 per cent. While 39 per cent people said they were satisfied with Yogi Adityanath as CM in Uttar Pradesh, the survey in West Bengal found overwhelming support for Mamata Banerjee as CM – some 67 per cent backed Mamata, while in Gujarat, chief minister Vijay Rupani got just 34 per cent rating.
Biju Janata Dal chief minister Naveen Patnaik, 73, who is ruling the state for about 20 years at a stretch from year 2000, remains hugely popular with his welfare schemes. He won 69 per cent backing. Jagan Mohan Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, won 50 per cent rating. In Delhi, 59 per cent of the respondents said they were satisfied with the performance of Arvind Kejriwal.
Significantly, in West Bengal, the BJP made major gains in this round of the survey, edging out ruling party the Trinamool. The BJP won 40 per cent support while the Trinamool got only 36 per cent. A survey before the LS polls had showed the Trinamool getting 43.5 per cent support and the BJP 40 per cent.
The present survey done over the past 12 weeks covered over 30,000 respondents spread over 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country. IHN-NN
