NEWS HUMAN CHAIN CAA KERALA
KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other top LDF leaders, as also Muslim community leaders and Christian priests were among a claimed 70lakh people who participated in a human chain organised in Kerala on Sunday, January 26, in protest against the central government law, the Citizen Amendment Act. The human chain stretched from Kaliyikkavila, north of capital TVM, to Kasaragod.
At one end stood CPIM politburo member MA Baby and at the other end another PB member, S Ramachandran Pillai. Another prominent presence at the human chain was CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, as also state ministers. Those who participated in the protest chain after 4pm took a pledge to protect the Indian Constitution.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran participated in the protest at Palayam Martyrs Column. The Christian Jacobite sect also participated in the protest, which saw large turnout of Muslim women in Kozhikode and other cities along the highway. The protest was part of the LDF-CPIM efforts to put the Modi government on the defensive. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is in the forefront of the anti-CAA campaign in the state, while state Govenor Arif Mohd Khan openly criticised the state government’s actions against a baill passed by Parliament and signed into law by President Ram Nath Kovind.
