NEWS SENA GOVT MAHA
NEWS MUMBAI: A new government headed by Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray as chief minister will be sworn in on Thursday, the three-party Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance announced on Wednesday. This, after Uddhav Thackeray called on Governor BS Koshyari and staked his claim to form a government. This is the first time that someone from the Thackeray family is donning the mantle of chief minister. The stability of the government is in serious doubt.
In another development, estranged NCP leader Ajit Pawar returned to the party headed by his uncle Sharad Pawar after a brief co-habitation with the BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis and holding the post of deputy CM since Saturday last.
Ajit Pawar was hugged in a new-found bonhomie by Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule as he turned up for the swearing in at the Maharashtra Legislature building on Wednesday morning.
The power sharing formula will be such that the Sena will get the largest share, though not 50 per cent of the ministries as it had sought from the BJP. The Sena will have 16 ministers, the NCP 15 and the Congress 13, as per an understanding reportedly worked out between the three.
Invitations have gone out to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, MK Stalin of the DMK in Tamil Nadu etc for their presence at the swearing in ceremony. –IHN-NN
