NAIDU’S NIGHTMARE … Pretender to PM throne, footloose Chandababu Naidu seeks NDA re-entry

Nara Chandrababu Naidu … Down and Out… and Humiliated by Jagan Day in and Day out…

VIJAYAWADA: Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who colluded with the likes of Mamata Banerjee to neutralize the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the run-up to the 2019 Parliament polls, is a chastened man today. Reports are that he is seeking re-entry to the NDA, after a period of co-habitation with the Congress-led UPA. He is openly admitting he erred in fighting the BJP and exiting  the NDA.

Politicians who sided with him are now abusing Naidu left and right for playing spoil-sport and exiting the NDA. They too were left between the Devil and the Deep Sea, with nothing to look forward to. Grapevine has it that Naidu is extremely scared for reaching upto Tihar Jail to be in the good company of his “friend” P Chidambaram. “Yes, Naidu will go to Delhi, Yes, not to become PM but to be escorted into Tihar Jail by cops in their vehicle,” is a joke taking the rounds of the political circles here.
Ousted from power in the assembly polls held alongside the Lok Sabha polls in mid-2919, the scheming politician got more than what he could chew from the new state government formed by his rival and YSRC leader Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu got humiliated day in and day out since Jagan formed the government, and the BJP watched the fun from the sidelines with considerable glee. The fancy structures he built during his chiefministership on the banks of River Krishna began getting a feel of JCBs and bulldozers after Jagan took power and targeted the former CM personally.

Naidu today is like a fish out of the water, and said openly the other day that he took things too far in his campaign against the BJP and Modi, in the name of a protest against refusal by the Centre to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to the state. Modi had taken the stand that the old systems under the Planning Commission no more existed after the Niti Aayog was formed to take national development forward. If AP was to be granted the SCS, states like Odisha and Bihar also were waiting in the wings for the same. Yet, Naidu thought he could raise the people’s feelings against “neglect of the state” by the BJP-led Modi government in Delhi.
Naidu reportedly trekked to Nagpur recently, to have an audience with RSS leaders. He went there with a brief to the RSS to help him rebuild bridges with the BJP and PM Modi. Ego-centric Naidu has no friends if he has no power. Yet, his ambition knew no limits. His suspected plan was to be at the centre of the “oust Modi campaign” by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, and emerge as the next PM if a situation arose in which no party got a majority in LS polls. The Congress leadership, mainly Rahul Gandhi, had no love lost for Mamata Banerjee, and Naidu thought he could emerge as a consensus PM, as per political grapevine here.

Naidu’s hope was also that he could make his son Nara Lokesh the CM of Andhra Pradesh, if he could move to Delhi and take power there after the 2019 polls. Both dreams collapsed like a pack of cards.
Problem for Naidu is, no one trust him. He will go any length. He undercut his father-in-law, deceased NT Rama Rao, when the matinee-idol-turned politician and CM of undivided Andhra Pradesh, was bed-ridden. In a virtual coup, he took over leadership of Telugu Desam floated by Rao, and worked his way up to become the CM. He did some good work for Hyderabad, hastening its development through building of flyovers and speeding up the IT sector development, but in the process he foolishly neglected the countryside. The rural anguish unseated him from power, and the Congress seized power.

The 2014 assembly polls, after bifurcation of AP into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, saw Naidu taking control of AP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Chandrasekhara Rao winning power in Telangana. Naidu tried to retain base for his party in Telangana too, but could not.
Naidu, who is allegedly among the most corrupt politicos in the country, is currently facing probes by Enforcement Directorate and the CBI in some corruption and moneylaundering cases. Chances are that Modi will fix him sooner or later. Naidu, on his part, is ready to go any length if he could live in peace and given an opportunity to side with the NDA again to have the spoils of power.
A couple of days ago, Naidu opted to join hands with Pawan Kalyan of the Jana Sena to launch an agitation against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government on the issue of sand shortage. The Jana Sena, which was part of the NDA, had fought the 2019 polls on its own and lost out badly, as was the case with Naidu and his TDP. –IHN-NN
