NEWS POPE VATICAN
VATICAN: Union minister V Muraleedharan had a meeting with Pope Francis when he attended an event in which the head of Vatican accorded sainthood to Sister Mariam Thrasia and four others on Sunday. The minister was at the head of an official Indian delegation to the event.
The others who were accorded sainthood were from Switzerland, Italy, Brazil and UK. The UK was represented at the event by Prince Charles.
The Pope asked the Union minister to convey his best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The minister gifted the Pope with a copy of the Bhagawad Gita with an introduction/comments from Mahatma Gandhi. This apart, the minister also gifted the Pope with a replica of a caparisoned elephant.
The minister also held a meeting with the external affairs in charge of Vatican, Paul Gallgar. — Agencies, IHN-NN
