NEW BENGALI STUNT… Lynching is wrong … yes, but who said it is right?

NEW DELHI: Modi-baiter Ramchandra Guha has surfaced again. He and 40 others including filmmaker Aparna Sen have sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing their indignation over some tragic incidents of lynching and “weaponization” of Jai Shri Ram slogan into a war cry.
They pleaded that the lynching of Muslims, Dalits and other minorities must be stopped immediately. “We were shocked to learn from the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) reports that there have been no less than 840 instances of atrocities against Dalits in the year 2016, and a definite decline in the percentage of convictions,” said Guha and others.
They noted that the PM had criticised lynchings, in a speech in parliament, but “that is not enough.” We strongly feel that such offences should be declared non-bailable…” they said in the letter. Guha, a writer of some history books, was among a motivated group that was in the forefront of an anti-Modi campaign for many years, during which he also was seen holding a brief for the Congress.
Aparna Sen told a press conference:  “Our letter has no political colour. We just want him (PM Modi) to intervene. Human lynching is our concern. Our objection is against lynchings, be it against Muslims or Hindus.”

Among the signatories are also some southern film personalities like Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Revathi etc, who were drawn into the present campaign by their Bengali friends. –IHN-NN
