UPDATE: At least 15 persons were killed as a compound wall collapsed in heavy rain fall in Pune. All the deceased were labourers and their families living in a string of huts in Kondhwa area. The incident occurred around 2am Friday night…

MUMBAI: Monsoon rains arrived in Mumbai with a bang on Friday, affecting normal life since morning. Monsoon rains are a season of nightmare for Mumbaikars, as the city with its old drains struggles hard to cope with heavy flooding.
The railway tracks went under floodwaters at several places, affecting the local as also long-distance train traffic. The airport schedules also went haywire for the day. Met office predicted “extremely heavy rainfall in Konkan region, at top of which is Mumbai, in the next 24 hours.  BEST buses were diverted from regular routes in many areas due to waterlogging. Three people died of electric shock in Gurgaon area.
Waterlogging was reported from Dadar, Wadala, Worli, Kurla, Chembur, Bandra, Andheri, Kandivli, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg and Bhandup areas, a BMC release said. IHN-NN
