NEWS NADDA
NEW DELHI: JP Nadda, BJP leader from Himachal Pradesh, has been named as the working president of the party, while party president Amit Shah will perform the dual role of BJP president and Union Home Minister. The scenario might change after some months if Shah finds handling both the jobs together difficult.
Nadda, 58, is a former Union minister and highly respected Brahmin leader. He has the backing of the RSS, party sources said.
Union Minister Rajnath Singh said Shah expressed an intention to step aside as party chief because of his heavy responsibilities as home minister. Said he in a tweet: “BJP Parliamentary board met today and it has selected Shri JP Nadda as working president. He will remain the working president till the BJP’s membership drive & org. elections are over. “
Tweeted PM Modi in a congratulatory message: “Shri JP Nadda is a diligent Karyakarta of the party. He has risen through the ranks due to his hard work and organisational skills. Humble and affable, he is widely respected across the BJP family. Congratulations to him on becoming the Working President of the Party.”
