NEWS CYCLONE VAYU
NEW DELHI: A cyclonic storm formed over the Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep islands was heading north-north-west towards towards Gujarat and Maharashtra coasts, and widespread rain along India’s western coast is predicted by the Met department said.
Started as a storm, it had strengthened into a deep depression on Monday and was turning into a cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning. It is named by Met as Cyclone Vayu (wind). The storm would hit the coast by Thursday with a wind speed of 135kmph, Met said in a warning.
An orange alert has been issued and fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea. IHN-NN
