TIRUPATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Lord Venkateshwara temple here Sunday, on his way back from a visit of Sri Lanka. He also addressed a Vijayotsava Sabha, or thanksgiving rally, organised by the BJP in the temple town. The PM started his speech with “Balaji Padala Sakshiga” ( an invocation of the holy feet of the Lord) and thanked the people of both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu for their support to the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
The PM promised to give a new direction to the nation during his five-year term, and said his stress would now be on welfare programmes for the poor as also economic growth for the nation. The state of Andhra Pradesh, he said, has huge possibilities for growth, and the Centre would do its best to realise the dreams of Telugus.”
The PM was received by chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and the priests of the temple. A day ago, the PM was in Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple in Kerala for prayers, after which he took off for events in the M Maldives, followed by a visit to Sri Lanka. IHN-NN
