RESULTS: Kejriwal now hints Rahul Gandhi spoilt the Opposition prospects

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whose Aam Aadmi Party was given a severe drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls, has said two reasons led to his party’s defeat. The people saw in the polls a fight between PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi, and favoured the PM and the BJP; two, his party had not been able to make it clear to the people why they should vote for the AAP.

The AAP fought in abot 40 seats and one seat from Punjab. It lost all the seven LS seats from Delhi. In the 2014 polls, the party won four LS seats from Punjab, and emerged second in all the Delhi seats. In the assembly polls that followed, in 2015 beginning, the party won 67 of the 70 seats. The party’s attempt to forge an alliance with the Congress for the LS polls did not fructify because the Congress was willing to offer it only one seat. In the end, the Congress too lost the polls in Delhi badly. IHN-NN
