TVM: Monsoon is expected to land on the Kerala coast on June 4 for its progress in phases towards the north, marking the rainy season in the country, the private weather forecaster Skymet has said. This means the arrival of rains in Kerala will be delayed by three days — the normal onset date being June 1.
Skymet also predicted below-normal rainfall in all the four regions of the country. “East and northeast India and central parts will be poorer than northwest India and South Peninsula. It seems that initial advancement of monsoon over peninsular India would be slow this time,” Skymet CEO Jatin Singh was quoted by PTI wire service as saying.
Monsoon is expected to reach Andaman and Nicobar island on May 22. Agencies, IHN-NN
