LS POLLS: BJP released manifesto, promises piped drinking water for all families, pension for shopkeepers

NEW DELHI: The BJP released it’s manifesto for Polls 2019 with a promise to implement a piped drinking water scheme that would reach water to all homes across India. This is a follow up on a similar scheme to have roads and reach electricity to all villages.

The manifesto also promises a pension scheme for dookandars, or small-time shopkeepers across India after age 60. This is in line with the pension scheme announced in the last Union Budget for Grant of RS 6,000 pension a year in three installments to small-time farmers and a RS 2,000 pension scheme for the unorganised labour.

The manifesto also promises to work for a system of 33 per cent reservation to women in Parliament and state assemblies–a promise the previous UPS government left half-way, and demand for which is growing among educated sections of women and women activists. IHN-NN
