PATNA: In another sad twist to the Dussera festivities this year, about 20 young women participants of a Durga Puja fair were attacked with sharp blades by anti-socials or perverts in Thakur Bari area of Jehanabad town. Over 60 spectators had been mowed down by a DMU train in Amritsar, Punjab, while they were watching a fireworks display as part of the Dussera celebrations Friday night.
In the Bihar incident, the women aged between 20 and 30 received sharp cuts on their buttocks or their thighs, one after another, leading to a panic situation. Women ran out of the fair immediately, reports said. They have been admitted to the local government hospital for treatment. Locals complained that the district administration did not take any preventive action even as such incidents were recurring for the past three years during the puja festival season.
Police is trying to identify the culprits by checking the footage from CCTV cameras placed in the area. –IHN-NN
